SCITREK ANNUAL LECTURE
Every year SciTrek enlists an esteemed member of the science education community to host a lecture on the UCSB campus for students, faculty, local teachers, and community members. The past lectures have been presented by:
- 2012: Bruce Alberts (Past editor of Science magazine, the premier science journal in the world)
- 2013: Sean Carroll (Author of Remarkable Creatures )
- 2014: Brian Reiser (writer of the Next Generation Science Standards)
- 2015: Susan Singer (Past director of the division of undergraduate education at NSF)
- 2016: Paul Relis with support from the Community Environmental Council (Author of Out of the Wasteland)
- 2017: Bassam Shakhashiri (Author of five volumes of Chemical Demonstrations)
- 2018: Marcia Linn (Specialist in integrating science and technology)
- 2019: Mark Windschitl (Author of Ambitious Science Teaching)
- 2021: Robert Brewer (Advocate for using scientific practices to promote social justice)
- 2022: Penny Noyce (Author of Magnificent Minds)
- 2023: Francis Su (Author of Mathematics for Human Flourishing)
